it will be 2010 a few hours from now and i'm curious about what 'odd' or different things you do/wear when the clock hits 12!

i picked this up from my dad when i was a kid: i put loose coins on my pockets, hold a few and jingle it and start jumping around when the clock strikes 12. LOL the coins signify that the coming year would bring me more money (which i surely need for the wedding!) and the jumping is to make me grow taller. hahaha. there may not be any science to any of these but i just got used to it and it makes me feel livelier and happier!

so, what's yours?

There is an Italian tradition that if you wear red underwear on New Years Eve you will have good luck for the year!

since I began dating my FH, we've always gone to his cousin & her boyfriend's house to celebrate the new year, a birthday & their anniversary. Since her and her bf have been together almost as long as me & my FH, we're both keeping our fingers crossed that he proposes to her! It's been a long-running joke around the family bc she's the only one left that isn't engaged, and her bf keeps saying her time is coming soon LOL. Let's hope it's tonight!

My family eats a grape at midnight. As a kid, I remember eating a grape every New Year's! My Nana said it's to bring good luck for the New Year and its tradition. She said my family in Italy does this too, however, when I researched why we would do this, it's a tradition in Spain, lol. Either way, I love it and any party I go to on NYE, I am the weirdo who brings a bag of grapes to pass out!

At FH parents house...we eat a spoonful of beans, I think lentils for the same reason.

Yep! My nana said it can either be lentils or a grape but as kids...it was easier to get us to eat a grape! Imagine I start showing up to people's parties with lentils!

Thank you!!!! I have been doing this since I was 13! My friend told me about it and I always do it, yet no one else does it and think I am crazy!!! I am printing out your post to prove I am not crazy and didn't make it up!
