We are getting married in April, and need to find a place to live. We both still live with family. My FH would like to buy a condo maybe, and I am fine with renting an apartment. So when should we start looking? I dont even know how to begin this process. We want to live either on the western end of suffolk or the beginning of nassau. Thanks ladies.

Re: When and where do I begin?
I would definitely start looking now, especially if you are considering buying something. My FH and I bought a house and from when we started looking to closing it took 8 1/2 months. There is a lot that you'll need to do and you won't want to leave it for right around the time of the wedding because planning the wedding is a project all in itself. I think that if you are considering buying, now is the time to get yourself a good reliable real estate agent and beging speaking to banks to get pre-approved, or at least pre-qualified. Good luck with your hunting!

If you want to buy something, I'd say start looking now to get ideas of what you want, and what condos are going for, in what area, maintenance prices etc. If you are going to rent, start looking in January

Re: When and where do I begin?
Thanks for the feedback. I better talk to my FH and begin the hunt! Ahhh, as if planning the wedding isnt stressful enough!I am afraid to buy something. We are paying for our wedding, and it seems impossible to come up with a down payment for a condo. At the same time renting can be viewed as 'throwing money away'. I have no idea what we should do, but I better start working on it now. Thanks again.
