When are you having your shower?

When are you having your shower?

Am I behind? My wedding is in April and I haven't registered nor have I planned my shower. I'm probably only going to have 20 people at a restaurant for my shower. And I know where I want to have it. So I figured I have time. Or am I behind?

I would think that your shower should be some time in Jan/Feb... I think you can register by the end of October, Send the invites out in early december...

I'm getting married in April also and I think my shower will be either in Feb. or early March. You still have lots of time to register.

Is your bridal party going to plan it for you? I'd leave it up to them.

Mine is the first week of october, so about 9 weeks before wedding

Re: When are you having your shower?

That's how we had ours -- I planned it and we ended up being 12 people (I had invited 19). We did it at this wonderful organic Italian restaurant in Brooklyn where I used to live called Scottadito's on a Saturday morning at 11 am and about 1/2 of us went for mani-pedis after. I called it my 'ladies luncheon' and it was so much fun!

It was on June 27th and our wedding was July 18th, so just about a month before. We would've done it sooner, but had a lot of OOTers to coordinate (my MOH and SIL were OOT).

I suggest picking a place you like that's close to your heart for one reason or another, and keeping it simple. It's so much more fun that way.

our weddings are one day apart and at CHCC!
we registered a few months ago. it could have waited but we just wanted to get it done and outta the way. plus we're having an engagement party and surprisingly enough without telling people about the registry they've been able to find em and buy things off of them!!
i havent even thought of the shower tho... my mother is takin care of that. i think she was thinking of having it in january tho.
cant wait!!

I am having mine a little less than 6 months before but that is earlier than usual

usually people have them 2-3 months before

I'm confused..nobody has surprise bridal showers anymore? I'm getting married in November and my girls had mine in July and it was an awesome surprise!!!

Re: When are you having your shower?

I am not having a suprise shower too much going on. I am getting married in November and my shower is the first weekend in October. My FMIL is throwing me a separate shower in the beginning of September for FH's family because they live further away and many of his older relatives cannot travel.

I did not register until the end of June. You have plenty of time

As far as a surprise shower, I'm not having a bp and I told my mother not to even bother trying to surprise me. It's just not my thing. She was fine with that.

Yeah I think it was your post about your shower that scared me. I saw that you're getting marrried the month before me and I was like ..uhhh ohhhh..

Re: When are you having your shower?

If they had it 8-9 months in advance, I might be surprised...but I asked my BP to tell me. Much less hassle for everyone trying to figure out what I want, when I want it, how to get me there, etc.

I don' t think I've been to ONE shower where the person was legitimately surprised.

ETA: They are typically 2-3 months before the wedding and invites go out about 6 weeks before that. So I'd say you should be done registering at your 6 month mark!

My mom was scheduled for a kidney transplant 3 weeks after the wedding and had been going through a lot of prep and stress for her pending surgery and wasn't able to help with the wedding planning and was so upset about not being able to throw a 'proper' shower for me, but I told her not to be foolish, and I'd take care of it! My MOH lives in Boston and my one BM (SIL) is in North Carolina, so it was impossible for the 3 of them to get together and plan something for me that would be a surprise.

You are fortunate to have such diligent and able friends and family who were able to plan such a great surprise shower for you! For those of us who are unable to do that, we still want to be able to celebrate. Nothing wrong with it. We all have our reasons.

I certainly didn't say there was anything wrong with it!

Re: When are you having your shower?

I´m getting married the week before you and I´m actually finalizing my registry now. The reason I´m doing it is that I am having my bridal shower the first weekend in November. (i live out of the country and it was the only time to have it since I don´t know if I´ll be back until a few weeks before wedding.)
