When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Is anyone leaving for their honeymoon the day after there wedding? My wedding ends at midnight, and I have to leave for JFK at like 4:30 am to get on a 7:30 flight. Anyone else leaving right away? I am a teacher and I have limited time off, I am worrying that we will feel rushed.

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Christy is your school allowing you to take a week for your honeymoon? I'm looking for a teaching position now, and someone told me that they won't give me a week off for my honeymoon. I might have to wait till school is over. This is why I'm waiting to book my honeymoon, depending on if I have a teaching position soon or not.

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Our wedding ends at 12:30 am on Sunday and we leaving sometime that afternoon for our flight. I sort of wish I had built in an extra day since I realized I have so much stuff to bring home before we leave - but at the same time, Im glad I wont have to return to reality (messy house, errands, etc..) so soon.

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Our wedding is on a friday night and we are leaving on sunday. We are going on a cruise and it leaves on Monday so we'll get to florida a day early. I definatley want saturday to pack, relax and get the last minute stuff done. I am a horror when it comes to packing and am glad I can do it after the wedding.

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Christy, i'm a speech-language pathologist in a school. I booked my weeding for the weekend before yours! I figured that I would have 3 days around here after the wedding and leave on Wed. night or Holy Thurs. for the honeymoon. I don't mind having 3 days here though...we've having many out of town guests (all of FH's family and some of mine) so we get to spend some extra time with everyone. I don't have tenue yet either, but I am hopeful that my principal will work with me to give me some time during those days. If I may ask, do you plan on inviting your principals to your wedding?

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Sasha,Tough call. In my school everyone seems to invite the principals. I feel weird about it, but I guess I will do it. I think the principal usually declines and the AP shows up. So I guess I will be inviting them. How about you?

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Our wedding ends at midnight on a Friday (7/4/03). We plan to leave for our honeymoon Sunday. I prefer to have a day in-between to get everything together.

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Christy, I'm not sure but I may end up inviting my principals. I sometimes feel obligated to...like it's some unwritten educator's law (hehe)! There was only one wedding recently in my school, a PT, and I dont' think she invited the principals. Also, being that I'm Speech, I don't know if I should also invite my Speech supervisor. I've know him for quite some time (since grad. school). My mother also works in a school, so between the people from my job and from hers we will have a ton of educators! The guest list just keeps growing each time I think about it!

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
We are leaving Monday the 21st @ 8pm, our reception is till 5pm Sunday the 20th. We will stay in The GC hotel Sunday night, then go home in the afternoon & get picked up for the airport there.Originally FH wanted to leave right from reception to airport-but everyone said that was nuts-plus we'd be spending our wedding night on a plane

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Now I am thinking we should leave sunday instead of hours after our wedding, I dont want to be too rushed. But then when we return I wont have a day off before returning to work! AHHH what to do?

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Christy - I made the same trade off. Have a day between the wedding and honeymoon OR have a day after the honeymoon before returning to work. I chose an extra day after the HM - because Im sure Ill need it more then.

Re: When are you leaving for honeymoon?
Sascha96...I'm getting married the same weekend as you...
I am a teacher and I am doing the same thing as you, I'm going to play it by ear with those 3 days before Holy Thursday. If I think I can get away with it I'll take off and if not, I'll just drag myself to work!

Re: J&A
I was going to get married the same weekend as you, unfortunately I could not afford flowerfield for that weekend. Got a better price for good friday. Will you be missing a lot of days for the honeymoon?

Re: J&A
Christy...I am getting married on Sunday and have my reservations to leave for my Honeymoon on Tuesday morning. I would like to take off Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (We have off Thursday & Friday) BUT I am unsure if I should. As you know, this is a new teaching job that I am starting however, I had my wedding and honeymoon booked before I got it! I was told that I should tell my building principal and then write a letter for permission to the Superintendent. The letter will then be kept in my file so there is no confusion. Do you think that sounds OK?
