I am wondering when Fh and I should really go out and pick our cake through our catering hall. I think someone said a month before but I am asking when you girls are doing it.

Hi, I was told that you do that when you are deciding your menu. We have to go do ours about a month before. HTH

I need to do that real soon thanks for reminding me but im getting it from an outside place not RH.
But usually you pick it out during the final menu i think

we were told we dont have to go till we finalize our menu....but i was also told black forest doesnt do tastings...i dont like that. I havent tried many different cakes, and i have never tried fondant! i wanna try it and then choose!!
we are probobly gonna call them in like march

i'm still trying to figure out if i want to use my RH's cake...or if they'll give me a credit & i can get my own....as i heard the Fox Hollow cake is only okay...

they wont give you a credit i wish, the way they see it is that it was something free they were giving you and if you decide not to take it then thats on you. Be careful bc SOME places will charge a cake cutting fee if you bring in an outside cake so ask about this

I got a birthday cake made from fondant from Black Forest and everyone hated it - so I know I am doing smooth butter cream but yes you have to buy a cake to try it.
I guess I will go in Black Forest and just order a cake for thanksgiving to try out my flavor then and that should help me hold over till Feb.
I am bored as you can see and want to do more wedding planning but on a hold stage till the new year
