some book it even more ahead of time, it all depends.... i think even if i wanted to do it now orbitz doesnt even take bookings for nov 2010 yet lololol

Between 12-6 months in advance. A lot of places won't book until a year, some wait until 9 months before the date before they take reservations. Sometimes the earlier you book the better rates you get, especially since the prices keep going up. Also last minute (if your willing to do this) give good deals as well, but then you have to take what you can get. This may not be bad you just may have to be flexible to the location...

Yeah, I rather do it ahead of time so I could get decent prices. I would be scared to wait last minute. Is anyone going to St. Lucia?

It depends where you go, if you want a specific hotel and especially like a sandals for example or going to an island with not alot of choices then book way ahead of time. We booked 2-3 months before the wedding but we also had no choice bc we went to europe and it works differently, dh and i had to wait for hotel rates to come out and they dont do it way ahead of time, i remember other may girls who went to europe had to wait until a few months before to get the rates. I wasn't afraid at all though, i mean first destination was spain and has TONS of hotels and not like an island with just a few where they book up that way. DH was set on a hotel in spain and we still got that hotel. Monaco we were more open to options as far as hotels and we still got a great place.
If you're going to the Caribbean or maybe a place like tahiti, bora bora then i would do it 6 months to a year before

about a year ahead of time...Usually once airline prices come out you would book...
