It's usually a few days before the wedding... If you are getting married at a church, it's held after you do the rehersal at the church. Only people involved in the ceremony and bridal party get invited, as well as immediate family. It's not usually a huge celebration with aunts, uncles, etc.

Re: When are you supposed to
Ours is going to be a week before the wedding. Generally, everyone in the bridal party, the immediate families, anyone participating in the ceremony and OOT guests are invited.

Re: When are you supposed to
I thought that it was supposed to be the night before, but I can't imagine wanting to do anything the night before other than rest.

Re: When are you supposed to
I don't think it's a good idea to do it the night before. It goes late and you probably want that time to relax and de-stressify. My sister was forced into having it the night before her wedding, thanks to the oh so holy people at our parish, and she hated it. I would have it 2 or 3 days before.

Ours will probably be the night before. But our ceremony isn't until 3:30pm the next day, so there should still be plenty of time to rest and relax.

Re: When are you supposed to
We're going to do it the night before since the BP & fam will be staying at a hotel that weekend (we're having the wedding in CT and we're all from LI). But I think you can do it anytime in that week before. But also, we aren't having our ceremony until 6:30PM, so we aren't going to have to be up super early the next day (even though I probably will be anyway lol).
We'll be inviting our parents, grandparents, any other family that plans to be at the hotel that night, & bridal party members + the families of the kids in the bridal party (as long as they plan on staying at the hotel that night)

Re: When are you supposed to
I think in terms of guests at the RD, it depends on how close you are with extended family.
Mine will definitely be BP (and their spouses) and mine and FH's parents, and a few very close friends that aren't in BP (for size purposes).
FH is also VERY close with some of his aunts and uncles, so they will probably be invited as well. On the other hand, I barely speak with mine, so while they are invited to the wedding, they won't be invited to the RD.
I haven't decided yet if we will invite OOT'ers or not.

The only reason we'd be inviting them is if we're having the RD @ the hotel that we are all staying at. Because I would just feel strange otherwise, if Auntie is wandering by looking for food and we're all there stuffing our faces.

ITA. My wedding falls on a Sunday and I'd probably have the RD on a Friday with the BP, their partners and parents.

Re: When are you supposed to
Im doing mine a week before the wedding. IMO, the night before the wedding everyone should be resting and relaxed. Not out at dinner getting drunk GoD forbid. AND as well as I dont want to see FH the night before. AND I am going to be stressed out so I DEF dont want to have to deal with that on top of everything else.
IF its an OOT wedding thats different then you have no choice. But I would even do that about 2 days b4 not the night b4.
