Hi Girls...I'm starting to get nervous about Pre-Cana. Should we already be doing this? I've seen some of the girls on here who have already done it...just wondering if I should start enrolling us for it. Ahhh!! So much to do, so little time!!

Re: When are you supposed to do Pre-Cana???
your church should tell you but I don't think it is any less than 2 months before.

Re: When are you supposed to do Pre-Cana???
I called my church and they told me what weekends they had it on. Then I picked a date. I would call soon because some churches require a Pre-Cana that is a few weeks long, and others, like my church do it on weekends but they only have it every several weeks and only have a certain number of couples each week.

call your church and see, for ours there was paperwork I had to fill out and drop off. I did it right after we booked the church and they called us for an earlier pre-cana, so we're already done. It also depends on if you want to do it over the course of one weekend, or if you want to go for one night per week over the course of about six weeks. Your church will let you know the options

Our church requires that you complete pre cana at least six months before your wedding date.

DH and I did pre cana 6 months before the wedding but we were also getting married north of albany in a different church than ours...so we wanted our church to have time to get everything together to send it to albany so we wouldnt have any last minute problems
they told us sooner rather that later is always best but whenever you can do will be fine

Re: When are you supposed to do Pre-Cana???
It has to be done before you get married. That is the 'due' date. We did ours in September for a few reasons.
It is not offered on a regular basis, fall, spring or whatever. I didnt want to wait until the spring because I know that I will be running around doing other stuff and didnt want to waste time with that.
We were able to do precana in a different parish from where we are getting married. So you can call around a nd see where and when you can get in a class.
You have two options when doing precana, a 2hour once a week course for 6 weeks or a 8 hour session on saturday. Some churches do it all weekend as well.
If you have any questions Fm me!! We did ours at St. Cyrils in Deer Park on a Saturday. It was a great day and it went quick it wasn't boring at all. The 6:00 mass was also dedicated to all the precana couples, we all got on the altars and had our rings blessed. It was really nice!!
