when did everyone tell their boss????

I am in an award situation. I'm not sure when I should tell my boss, because I just recently started this position on 8-18-03. I'm sure I can 'hide' it for a couple more weeks because I'm a pediatric nurse and I normally wear lose scrubs to work. I'm still on probation until Febuary. What should I do? I did mention to one of the senior nurse's (not my boss, but she's in charge of making our assignments) that I 'might' be pregnant, because I was assigned to care for a child with CMV which is highly tertagenic to unborn babies causing horrible birth defects. Her response was when will you find out? I told her due to religious reasons my husband and I do not use protection. So every month there's a chance that I be pregnant. She just looked at me like I'm crazy, but she said ok.

So when would you tell if you were in my shoes?

I think you should tell your boss now, for the same reason I did. When you work that closely with children (especially since you work closely with ill children), you run the risk of picking up all kinds of things from those little germ carriers.
Unless you are SURE you are immune to things such as chicken pox and 5th disease, tell just your immediate boss now. Probation or not, your job will be secure because they can't discriminate against a pregnant woman.

Good luck!

In your position I would tell my boss right away and not take a chance with the baby's or your health. Saying that you might be pregnant every single month will probably not get you 'out' of risker situations and you need them to be 100% careful with you.
