When did you put the baby to sleep while they were awake?
Molly falls asleep for the night about 10pm. Usually she falls a sleep in our arms while drinking a bottle. When do you start to put them down into their crib/bassinet while they are still awake and let them fall asleep on their own?

about 16 months. I couldn't let her CIO. It seemed cruel to me.

I never had sleep issues with Lukie, he's been very good about going to sleep when we put him in the crib. I also feared having to attempt CIO but he never really made a fuss so I didnt have to let him cry it out. When he was little we used the swing alot after his bath so I guess he was about 5 or 6 months maybe when he went down still awake. The best thing I found for us is a schedule. Although I am not a maniac about having my kid home for his evening routine if we are visiting or it's a special situation, I do for the most part try to keep him on his dinner-bath-relax-bed schedule from 6-6:30 till his 8pm bedtime. He knows what to expect.

I started after JJ got on a schedule when I knew...at 1pm he took his nap, I would just put it him same at night and his morning nap.

Nicolas has been going down in his crib (or at first, his bassinet) awake since he was about 8 weeks old. He has never cried it out. Every now and then he gets a little fussy, and then we go in to him and sooth him with a belly rub or his pacifier until he calms down, but most nights he falls asleep without a peep.
He goes to sleep between 7pm and 8 pm.

Michele, there's no harm in trying to put her down awake now. We're still trying to do this with Lyla, but it doesn't work!

Occasionally Madeleine will fall asleep on her own when I put her in her cradle... but I stress the word occasionally!!! I try every day... but some days are better than others for her...
But then again I'm probably expecting too much from her since she's only 4 weeks old...

I've been putting Gianna to bed awake in the crib since she's about 2 months old and usually she falls asleep right away. If she doesn't, she 'talks' to herself or to the mobile and then she's out. She loves her crib!

We only started putting Ryan down awake at 7 months. He has his bedtime routine - bath, bottle, prayers, lullabies and then he goes down. Sometimes he is asleep, sometimes he is awake. We did have to finally let him CIO but it was time for us to do that....he had been sleeping in our bed for all the time before that and it was time for everyone to move on! Now he goes down in his crib either way and is perfectly happy!! Even for naps!
