When do I get my marriage license and do I need my birth certificate because we have to mail it away for passports

you can get it 60 days before the wedding date. (but has to be at least 2 days before so it's valid on your date)

We were asked for 2 forms of ID. We brought DLs and birth certificates... If you have a baptismal record, you can use that instead of the birth certificate.
ETA - We went to Town Hall in Hempstead.
And the above is correct - no more than 60 days before your wedding and no less than 24 hours before. (To be safe, if you are getting married on Saturday, get it no later than Thursday)

Kara I knew I could count on you!! You always have all the advice with this kind of stuff I thought about FM you... which one can i use the baptizmal certificate for passposts or marriage certificate?

In lieu of a birth certificate, you can use a baptismal record or naturalization record.

You can use the baptismal certificate for the marriage license.
