When do I go for my first fitting?

When do I go for my first fitting?

The only person I have as a reference is my mother who didn't need any alterations on her dress.

I'm definitely going to need to have my dress taken in -- when should I go for my first fitting? (my wedding is in July of 2007)

Also, I bought my dress at David's Bridal and want the bustle I saw on their website. Is it safe to assume any seamstress will be able to do that, or do I have to go to David's Bridal?

Thanks!

My first fitting was last Saturday and my wedding is December 2. I was told fittings are done as close to the wedding as possible just in case you lose or gain weight.

She's exactly right. Usually its between 8-6 weeks before your wedding date. Most brides tend to lose a few pounds/inches before their big day due to STRESSSSS!~ I think its best if you call the store where you purchased to see what they tell you to do. Good luck!
