Hey everyone. I was thinking of starting to look for my dress in early January for my November 2006 wedding....Is that enough time? It seems like everyone has their dress already---Is 10 months enough time to find a dress and make sure its there on time???? Or should I be already looking.Thanks!!

If you have the time now to bounce around a little and get ideas of what you like, I would recommend it. I spent a few weeks (sat and sun of prob 3 weekends as well as at least 4 times during the week) looking. So it may be easier if you give yourself more time, that way you don't have to go into dress overload :)

I JUST ORDERED MY DRESS AND MY WEDDING IS OCT 2006.. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE 8-10 MONTHS TO COME IN.. DEPENDS ON THE DESIGNER.. YOU KNOW? DEF START LOOKING :) CONGRATS!

Ten months is enough time for most designers, some take more. You could start looking now and getting ideas of what you want so you're more prepared for January. I'd rather get that out of the way sooner than later, I'd hate to have to rush through alterations or be stressing over it coming in on time. That's why a lot of us got our dresses taken care of so early.

I say start looking. It took me a few months to finally decide on one. Maybe you'll be lucky and find it immediately, but you never know.

i agree i took my awhile and finally i decided. i ordered it about 3 months ago and still didn't get it in, it will take awhile

I would start looking now. I ordered my dress 1 yr in advance b/c this particular designer says it can sometimes take up to 10 months to come in!!!

WOW--guess I should get started...I was hoping to lose 10 pounds before I began looking so I could get a better idea of exactly how it will look(all my weight comes right off my stomach so it totally changes how clothes look on me...Ive already started and know Im going to lose it though, so I guess Ill just have to go looking for a dress I like and then work on whatever needs it on my body!! Im so picky and critical of myself in everything that I guess it would be a good idea to start looking now.

I have a shorter engagement (only 10 months) so I only ordered my dress with 8 months to go and its totally fine although I was starting to get nervous that I wouldn't find 'the one.'
You can always start now to give your self plenty of time to shop around.
