When do you ask your bridesmaids!!

When do you ask your bridesmaids!!

I have been engaged since November, getting married in May04, and I haven't asked anyone to be in my bridal party? Is it too early? How did you ask the girls to be in your bridal party?

I got engaged Feb. 2002 and getting married Sept. 2004. I asked my BM right away. My sister (MOH) assumed that she was going to be my MOH, my best friend assumed she was going to be a BM because I was in her BP but we told my cousin's girlfriend 3 months after we got engaged and FI's niece actually knew that she was going to be in our BP before we even got engaged.

did you just call them, ask them face-to-face?
is there any special etiquette on how to ask?

I told me cousin's girlfriend and FI's cousin face-to-face to be in my BP.

I asked my local girls face to face and my other two who I see less b/c further away and very busy over the phone. I wasn't going to ask them over the phone but they kept making hints and I knew I wouldn't see them for about 2 more months so I just came out and asked. They were so busy screaming into the phone I think if I had done it in person I would have been afraid of the reaction in public
We did go to dinner to celebrate all together over the holidays in the city which was nice to make up for it.

I asked them right away and so did Fh. I asked all of them over the phone. I didn't know when I would see them and didn't want to wait.

I was so excited about my engagement, because I had always dreamed of the day. So I had my bridal party all ready in mind and couldn't wait to ask my girls. Did it right away. Took the time though to ask them each in person The girls all said 'yes' and have been helping me with the planning since. Go ahead, ask them

I am also getting married in May and have finally gotten around to asking all my girls. I asked all of them by giving them a card that I made. It took me a few months to see everyone but it is done now! Don't worry you have plenty of time to ask everyone.

I asked two right away. One I wish I held off but I opened my mouth and now I think its hurting me more to have her in the bp. My sister didn't need a formal asking-she already knew. My MOH I had planned a dinner outing for us, and I couldn't hold it in (not good with surprises) and told her over the phone. My cousin I haven't told yet and will when we meet for me to try on dresses.
