For example, if mine is in September, I should go in July or August?

Usually it is 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

My bridal salon made my first fitting appt when I bought the dress. My first fitting is July 12th for an Oct 1st wedding.

No earlier than 2 months before as many brides will have weight fluctuations before the wedding.

First fitting is usually two months before the wedding date.
