When do you negotiate?

Do you negotiate with a vendor when they quote you the place for the reception or when you are coming in to sign the contract?

I negoitated when we signed the contract - They seemed more willing to give more when they knew we were serious....

I did some minor negotiating the first time we were there to get a sense of how flexible they were. On the second meeting when we went to sign the contract, most of the negotiations took place. As stated on previous post, they are more willing when they know you are on the verge of signing.

Do it when they quote you and then do it again when you sign. Definitely start with the smaller stuff and then move in for the kill.

I would take the time and schedule a few 'undecided' visits with them. Sorta playing the field of decideding between two/three places. Never when you first go, perhaps at a follow up after the tasting. But just lay it out and go for a real low ballpark figure

NOw I feel jipped. I did not negotiate with my hall !!

We negotiated when we went to show our family the hall and signed the contract.
