I'm getting married in Sept ... when should I start?

you could start now....we did ours about a year before but i think i was just so excited about being engaged i just had to register....i wanted to scan everything with that gun!!! it was so much fun - but we need to go back and do the bedding and stuff now
i would just wait until about 6 months before the wedding to do linens and sheets and bedding stuff incase its sold out or discontinued by the time your guests are ready to purchase something

You're already within the year so you could start whenever you want. I think I registered with about 6 or 7 months left to go.

When you want a SPLITTING headache!!!
JUST KIDDING!!!
You should get started as soon as possible as it takes several visits sometimes. You always miss some things or sometimes see new things and you have the time to adjust your registry. Being able to add/delete things online was a BLESSING for us! But do be prepared because it can be a LITTLE overwhelming for some. Good Luck!

The morning after we got engaged my FH looked me in the eye with so much love and said:
'You know what the best part of this is......... now we can register'
I thought he was going to say something so loving. Anyway, we registered over a year ago. And we got a bunch of presents for the holidays last year, birthdays, and our engagement party.

To answer your question, i think i'm going to go at the end of november. I agree with the above post... i would register before christmas and before your engagement party (HINT, HINT) so that all of us know what to get you.
I'm thinking of registering at Crate & Barrel, maybe Pottery Barn, and Williams & Sonoma. Keep in mind, you should at least register somewhere that is close to you for those people who may want to personally pick it out or for those who don't know how to use the internet. Just a thought.

I'll second the importance of online editing. That was a life saver! I would definitely recommend registering places where that's an option. (We did BB&B and Fortunoff)

We did BB&B and Fortunoffs, but some other good options are Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma and Linens n Things.

i just finished registering, and i havent not set my date yet, all i know is it will be in July. i registered b/c our engagement party is coming up in 3 weeks. since FH and I live in Australia and I am from NY and wedding and showere will be in NY, i registered one place in Australia and at BB&B. it was complicated for me b/c the electricity is different so i couldnt register for any US electrical applicances and I had to do small things in NY b/c of shipping back to Australia. it was a headache and a half, but i had to give people that will get us gifts options.

We registered in July on 05..... we waited for a couple of reasons.... one being that I watch my brother have a headache with all the discontinued items that he registered for, having to change things over and over again.... and two being that i wanted to get a few thinsg from the people who would give me engagement gifts that expressed their personallity..... also I didnt know where we were going to live so how can i register.... We registered at Fortunoff and Macys..... Macys is great because if you have a macys card and your register for 5 different categories then you get 5% back at the end in a Macy's gift certificate.... I am getting, so far, 150.00 back!
