How much( around about) do you usually have to give and how far ahead of time do you book them? TIA Valerie

We gave our DJ $50.00 for a deposit. We can pay in installments or pay the balance the day of. I think we should start paying a little at a time though so its one less thing to worry about.
ETA We booked them in like April (06) for a November 07 wedding

we put down I think $ 100 big ones. We booked around June.
Frank wanted 100 but I gave him 400. Pay it then or now but either way- you're paying. He said I could give him the rest whenever I wanted but I plan on having all the vendors paid off a month before the wedding.

we booked ours like a year and a half in advance and actually only gave him like $80. we weren't planning on booking him on the spot but we loved him and when he saw us trying to pool our money together for a down payment he laughed and said don't worry about it, but we did anyway. i think it's between you and your dj how much you leave

I boause they had done 3 of my friends I booked mine right away. I didn't have to give a deposit just pay in full the day of. HTH

We booked 14 months in advance since we found the person we really wanted to use...Frank from FM Entertainment. We paid $250 and the rest is due the day of.

We haven't booked yet, but the one we LOVE would be 50% deposit (that means $1700 deposit and the other $1700 the week before or day of).

I think it depends on the DJ and his potential for getting booked on that date. My DJ was almost completely booked up for our date, but said I could leave a $200 deposit. I gave him $1000 (1/3) because I just preferred to have a good lump paid. That was about 8 months before my date.
