. . .I will always check my child's folders every day to see if there are important forms to fill out. I can't tell you how many parents find out the day before something is due that their child needs a $14 check to participate in a festival! I have a kid who just said, 'Yeah, I'm doing it. . .but I lost it!' ON THE DAY THAT IT'S DUE!!!
Girls, when you have kids, especially when they're in elementary school, CHECK THEIR FOLDERS EVERY DAY!!! Your child's teachers will thank you.

Re: when I have kids. . .
I have 4 kids (3rd,4th,6th & 7th grades) and each and everyday that is the FIRST thing I do !!!!!! And yes I know that teachers really do appreciate it a lot !!!!!!!!!!! So I know exactly what you mean !!!!!!! IMO I dont think it is the kids responsibility to have to remember .... it should be the parents that look in their backpacks each day !!!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!
In 5th and 6th grade, it should start to be more of the kid's responsibility, but at that age, the parents should still have their hands in the responsibility and organization aspect, especially if you know that your child has issues handing things in on time.

I don't have kids, but i take care of them, and I check their folders everyday. I keep on top of all of there school forms, just because I know most parents are too lazy too do so. Its really sad so many parents just don't want to be bothered with their children's education....I don't get it.

Re: when I have kids. . .
I'm guilty of the not checking it sometimes.. I 'm gone over 11 hours a day.. Come home to a 2 year old and my 8 year old.. make sure my 8 year old reads while I make dinner, clean, Then I try to get the little one to bed.. So at times I'm the guilty one of not signing a test.. but I always look the next day if I know I forgot..
Sorry teacher lmao

That's crazy that some parents don't check these things. My Mom always checked my stuff on a daily basis when I was little.

ITA!!! I think some parents just don't care (none of you girls since you are all checking the folders!)...
Yesterday I was on the train home and this mother and daughter (she must have been in like 3-4 grade were sitting across from me and the mother was yelling at the daughter about why she didn't tell her that she had homework and why she didn't do it. So then she proceeds to tell her daughter that she is a good mother because she let her daughter sleep in that morning and she did her math and spelling homework that morning (all this while putting her headphones on, turning on the ipod to ignore her child)

Re: when I have kids. . .
I can understand an OCCASIONAL forgetful moment. They're bound to happen when you have an 8 year old and a 2 year old. But there are kids who, without fail, will ALWAYS FORGET TO BRING IN STUFF.
I once had a parent YELL AT ME for not letting their child in the school at 5 pm to pick up her social studies book. I was like, 'Well, the building closes at 4, so technically, you're not allowed in here past 4. I can't let you in here.' The father got all pissed off at me because I wouldn't let him in. GRR!!!
