When is a good time to buy?
Are there times of the year that are 'hotter' than others? Like is spring super buyer time but summer dead?

Re: When is a good time to buy?
I always heard it was a good time to buy in the winter. Don't know how true that is. I'd be interested in hearing people's opinions, though!

Re: When is a good time to buy?
I always heard winter too, because no one wants to move in the middle of the school year.

Re: When is a good time to buy?
Unless you need to relocate before the school year begins, summer is the absolute WORST time to by.I've always heard winter is the best as well...no one wants to move in the middle of a school year, no one wants to move in inclement weather (snow, ice). You tend to have a little more bargaining leverage in the winter...so they say.

Re: When is a good time to buy?
The best time to buy is in the summer and spring months, but it is also the time where EVERYONE is looking for something so houses go quickly and bidding wars happen. There tends to be more on the market in the warmer months. In winter, there are less on the market than in the warmer months but the people that are on the market are MOTIVATED sellers, they need to get out and you can bargain with them. Peoole who are serious about selling will have their house/condo in the market no matter what season it is. I think it's all about timing!

Re: When is a good time to buy?
price wise, the winter.however, i would start looking now to get an idea of what is available re: property, price in your desired areaa. more homes do come on the market in the spring and summer for the reasons mentioned above, but IMO -> the best time to buy is when you find a house that you love and is in your price range.

Re: When is a good time to buy?
Yes, actually right now is the best time to buy. People generally aren't looking to move in the middle of the school year. November through February are probably the best times as far as negotiating, since buyers are few and far between.Welcome New Vendors
