I posted this on the 04 board too, but I thought I could get advice from brides who are near to their wedding date too.
I am getting married October 1, 2004 and I am wondering when is it appropiate to send out my STDs. We are having our Engagement Party at our house on Aug 23, 2003, so I was thinking of sending them out in October 2003. Is that appropiate?

My wedding is Sept 20, 2003. I mailed my STD cards in Nov of 2002. In March of 2003 I mailed info packets with hotel info. On July 20, 2003 I mailed my invitations.

That's a great idea to send the hotel information earlier then the actually invite. I have gone to 3 out of state weddings and they have all sent the hotel info with the invite. I like this way better. Then they have more time to plan or maybe even plan a vacation. Thanks for the idea!

i would say november(before christmas card season) or december(durring it)

my wedding is new years eve this year and i sent them out at the beginning of december this way people would be able to reserve the date and make plans for staying at the hotel.

I would think 1 yr is good. I know I am sending mine out with my Xmas cards this year and it will be the one yr mark.

i sent out my engagement announcements in febuary and std cards in july and will be sending hte invites out in september.

We are getting married in January, I sent out the STD's in July. If you have the time though, I would probably send them out 10 to 12 months beforehand.
