When is (or when did) everyone removing their veil?
Silly quetion I know but I have a shawl that I want to put on also but it clashes with the veil and I was just wondering if you took your veil off right after the ceremony or during the reception? We will be in the coctail hour (after last minute photos) mingling and I dont know whether to take it off before then or not. I would like it off but....What are you doing?

it depends what you want to do really. I was planning on keeping my veil on until after the first dance.. this way i have it on in most all the pictures.. but i think it really depends on what you feel comfortable with doing.. i don't think there is a right or wrong way :-)

I am also planning on removing it after the first dance. That way it is on in most pictures, and I can have the first dance with it on. Then it comes off!! Do whatever you feel most comfortable with.

I didn't...even though I planned to...
I was planning to remove my veil after the best man's toast (which is right after first dance). This was when we bustled my dress. But, it wasn't bothering me at all and decided I'd leave it on a little longer, since you only get one day to be a bride and the veil completes the picture!
Do whatever you feel most comfortable with.

My veil is a one-layered REALLY long piece. I am going to try to 'hat-pin' bustle it for the first dance and then I will probably take it off. I don't want my hair to get pulled out if someone steps on it.

I agree with Minibride
I never took mine off either and I loved it. It`s so true - any other day if you walked around with a veil on, you`d look like a nut so you might as well do it up for the whole day. It was so fun and didn`t get in the way at all. I just asked my hubby to 'respect the veil' when we were practicing dancing so he`d remember to slip his arm underneath it when we danced on the wedding day. Unless of course you have a really long one...I had a fingertip length veil. Enjoy!

I didn't plan to, but I kept mine on...
and I'm so glad I did. The pictures really show it up, and I looked like a princess all day long because of it (I know I'm already wearing the gown, etc., but somehow the veil added a special touch). It depends on how you're wearing your hair, but it really doesn't get in the way. It's nice to have on!!!

My best friends aunt told her
When my best friend got married more than 10 years ago, she went to remove her veil after the first dance. One of her husband's aunt saw us start to take the veil off and said 'Why would you ever want to take off your veil. You only get to wear once twice in your life; on your communion day and your wedding day. Today, you are a princess. Enjoy it'. And when I get married Nov. 2002 I plan to wear mine all day. She was right...we get to be a princess for one day.
