When is the first dance done?

When is the first dance done?

Is it done immediately after the introductions, or after the first course is served? Or is it done at another time? I'm clueless!

The weddings I've been to usually do it right after the intros.

Right after the intro.

We did ours right after we were introduced (we didn't do bridal party and parent intros)

Right after the intro, your bridal attendant or maitre d' will take your flowers and you both will have your first dance. That is how it has happened at the weddings I have been to in the past anyway.

We had it right after the intros. I've been to weddings where it was done after the cake...

So did you all have a separate intro song from your first dance? Then you stood in the middle of the floor and they started your music for your dance? We've been taking ballroom dancing lessons and we practiced walking out to the floor using the beginning of our song. Should we just use that instead of separate intro music?

We are in the same boat. We are using intro music for us, and then the DJ will switch to our song and as the floor clears FH will walk me to the centain of the dance floor to ur song. I am getting stomach knots just thinking about it

Just something else to add-I saw this on a Brudezilla episode (the couple having their wedding at Tavern on the Green). The couple's first dance is supposed to be the first dance of the night. If you delay it, people probably won't start dancing until much later in the evening and there is a risk that the party never takes off. Just something to consider.

We've been taking dance lessons also and that is what we were encouraged to do. . . when we practiced it with our song it looked perfect. . . and it kind of felt like I was a queen being led out onto the floor because my FH was slightly ahead of me and holding my left hand high like he was presenting it (with the new ring) and me to our guests. . . it kind of helped that our song had a bit of an intro before words started. . . I say go for it you'll look beautiful!!
