when is the right time...

to go dress shopping? Just got off the phone with my mom... I am getting married in Sept 2004 and was planning on starting to look for my dress this coming sept/oct, figuring I would give myself time to look for a while then order something late this year.

My mom's friend's FDIL is already dress shopping and she is getting married a bit later than me. So my mo is asking if we should too.

What do you think?

i think a year ahead is plenty of time to order it - you can always go looking before that!

I think anytime is fine - I looked over a year before mine but that was b/c of the house situation. I think September is a great time to start looking........maybe the weekend of my shower

I'm getting married Sept '04 and started looking back in May. After trying on over 50 dresses, I was glad I started early...I was beginning to think I'd NEVER find a dress...I think if I had waited till a year before I would have gone insane and probably would have just settled. I found my dress a few weeks ago and am getting fitted & ordering it in 2 weeks.

It is NEVER too early to go shopping, as my stepmom always says

Good luck!!! Bring lots of pics, an open mind (cause you'll probably wind up loving something you never thought ou'd love!) and bring water.

I bought my gown in May 02 for my Feb 04 wedding. It fit perfectly and I fell in love with it on teh spot. I don't think it's too early.

ThongLori - it WAS an olympic event! I have a hard time finding clothes, period. I have a super tiny frame - I'm almost 5'8' and I weigh 115...things are either swimming on me or too short! As for the gowns, I didn't want anything too poofy or too ornate & heavy...so it took a while. But I tell ya, it was funfunfun!!! Especially if you enjoy shopping...
