...at a local spot like a Starbuck's, is it customary to offer to buy them a drink or vice versa??? These are my first meetings and I don't want to be rude or expect something from them. Any help would be great!

I just met my video guy at starbucks this weekend. He was already sitting down and didn't have a drink, FH offered to buy him coffee but he said no.
At my meeting with my photographer, we met him at a coffee shop, and we all ordered coffee and FH just picked up the tab.
I do not think that it's necessary to buy them a drink, but it was awkward, so FH just paid. hehe
Thanks! I was thinking that if they were already there and didn't have one, I would offer....actually, knowing me, I will offer either way!

yeah. Our photo and video guys are both very young and independent, they dont' work for a company or anything, so we felt right offering to pay. If I was meeting a vendor who was older/more established, I would want them to buy me a coffee, hehe

i would offer but you would think that they are trying to get your business and don't have to pay rent for an office that they would buy you a cup of coffee..

i met a couple of officiants at starbucks and never paid for them (nor did they pay for me)

I would honestly think they would be the ones to offer YOU something!! When I meet at a vendors office, they always ask if I want a beverage etc.. I would not offer. Its the same in any business really... if a client is coming to meet you for your services... you pretty much cater to them and make them as comfortable as possible. Thats the mentality I have always had and received in business. If they can't offer up something as little as coffee I find it to be strange and if they actually accept and offer from you... even weirder!! Totally *** backwards IMO
