Re: WHEN NEGOTIATING WITH A PHOTOGRAPHER....
It has been my experience that it is easier to get more included in the packagae than initially offered rather than getting any $ off the price. Make sure you get all the thank yous you will need, some additional enlargements and possibly even up to ten more pictures in your album. Make sure your album can be filled with pictures of any size and color and not only five 8X10s, five B&Ws etc. Good luck.

Katherine, It sounds like you have been speaking with Bill Fredericks (the 5 b&w's etc.). If you have been, have you been able to successfully negotiate with him?

Sorry, I never heard of Bill Fredericks, but I have come across this at a couple of studios in my extensive quest for the perfect photographer!

Re: WHEN NEGOTIATING WITH A PHOTOGRAPHER....
Have you been able to get around the 5 b&w and one 8x10 to a page with these other photographers. We have found photographers we like, but I don't want to get nickel and dimed on the books.

Re: WHEN NEGOTIATING WITH A PHOTOGRAPHER....
Absolutely! The one photographer that had this policy that we were seriously considering changed it to unlimited B&W and sizes. I flat out told them, I love B&Ws and want to have the freedom to do my album any way I want. There was no way I could go with a studio that put a limit on B&Ws or size. After I said this, he changed it, he even said I could have the whole album B&W if I wanted, all for the same price! Don't settle for anything less that what you really want and don't let the photographer put limitations on you!

Just wanted to add that one 8X10 in an album seems a bit ridiculous to me!!

Do you mind me asking, what photographer are you thinking of going with?

Re: WHEN NEGOTIATING WITH A PHOTOGRAPHER....
Well, I actually have two more to meet with before I decide, but as of right now I am trying to decide between B rett M atthews in Roslyn and Imagine Studios. With Imagine you have to use them for both photo and video. www.imaginestudios.net www.brettmatthews.com

Re: WHEN NEGOTIATING WITH A PHOTOGRAPHER....
I met with B rett M atthews, I'm on the fence about them. Definately liked their album style. I have heard Image mentioned on the boards. Are they similar in style to B rett M atthews?

I would say similar, but not exactly the same. Check out Imagine on the web and decide if they are someone you want to meet with. What style are you looking for?

I just looked at their site. I wish they had more wedding photos and info about their pricing.
Looking for photojournalism/candids.

Have you tried Mark Kauffman, I will be meeting with him soon and I know he does great candids. Call him and he will send you a video of his work.

We did meet with Mark. I liked his work and his albums. Unfortunately, FH did not like it as much as I did. He didn't think Mark was as creative in style as Bill Frederick.

Re: WHEN NEGOTIATING WITH A PHOTOGRAPHER....
with your compllimentary engagement shoot ask for a free 8x10 or 11x14. --with the wedding photos get all the thank you's and extras that you want. ---loose 8x10's I wanted 5 ---loose 5x7's I also wanted 5 of these ---an 11x15 ---a 20x24 at no additional cost, many photogs try to bluff you and say they are soooo costly, my friend is a photog in another state he says it is more NY BS. ---a proof album ---no additional cost for album style--i.e, hand made/bound ---all your proofs --all your negatives and if they are using digital you want the disc with the negs on it.
Good Luck, Creative is very pricey and FH and I felt that they were just too much and were pushing the 2 photog and 2 asst deal on us with very, very few extras. We alos kept getting the we are the preferred photog of your vendor song. LOL
