When people say they want to help you- ignore them they really do not mean it.

I say this because, I am getting married 2 weeks from tomorrow. I have been engaged 1 year and 2 months.

My family has complained that I do NOT let them help me do anything. The reason for this is because I am extremely impatient and I want things done when I want them done.

Well I asked them to book a hotel suite for us to stay at out here ( I live in the Bronx) so that we can get ready and get pics taken. Well guess what- it was not done- I had to do it myself.

so when in doubt DO IT YOURSELF!!!!

I find that this is true. I think I might book the hotel for my Bachelorette party, becasue it still isn't done.

I think this is so true! I have had too many times where someone has said they are going to do something, and then I find out it was never done. So the old saying goes, 'If you want it done right, do it yourself.'

I hate to be a cynic, but I have to agree. Although many people in my family and in DH's family offered to help, everytime I needed help, for some reason or another they couldn't help (and I'm talking about little things -- like asking them to make a few phone calls to local reception halls). I got so fed up that I quit asking for help.

Now, it drives me nuts whenever our families say things like 'Oh well, you did this all by yourself' in a joking, but chiding manner. I just smile, but I'm thinking 'Yeah I did it all by myself because that's the only way it was going to get done!'

I totally agree.
I do everything myself period.

I definatly agree....I asked my step sister to print my outer envelopes and towards the end it was like pulling teeth to try to get her to do it! I just got two envelopes that I asked for two weeks ago and my response date is the 3rd!!! I wish I would have taken care of it myself!!
