When picking a vendor do you take location into consideration?
Just curious if anyone does this.
I do sometimes. I figure I'd rather not drive that far when I have to make a payment or if I have to go there for something. Of course if I don't like them I won't choose them because they are close.
Is anyone else like this?

Yeah, I do this a little too. I'm really glad my photographer moved recently (closer to where my hall is) because it was such a pain finding the place the first time. I also only went gown shopping fairly closeby since I know I'll be back there for fittings. I may have to break this trend with florists, though. I've heard rave reviews about la blossom and flower michele, but I don't know where they are located.

I've been trying to do the same, but it doesn't look like any of it is working out. I live on the Souht Shore and booked Duet and Flower Michele which are both in Huntington. I just couldn't resist their work!
Flower Michele is all the way up 110 across from the Harbor Club, and LA Blossom is off 110 - right off Jericho.

I wanted to check out Signature Florist but it's so far from where I live. Then I think what happens if they arrive late because I am so far.

I'm from Brooklyn, and travel to most of my vendors out in Long Island. It's worth it for the vendor. i always bring checks w/me for deposits, and make sure that balances are due around the same time for most of my vendors. Thankfully a lot of my vendor accept payments via check by mail or over the phone.

I did. It was a tie in prices for tommy tunes and starlight express and we liked both. But tommy tunes was ALOT further from our hall then starlight and since we were getting married in the winter we had to take a snow storm into consideration. So we went with starlight. Just incase it snowed.. they had alot better of a chance getting to us then tommy tunes did!
I LOVE duet but hate how far away they are from us. Esp. since even after the wedding we have had to make serveral trips out there to visit them and its a long ride and we are both very busy.. ( after the wedding you have to pick up proofs, pick out pictures for TY and album, pick up TYs, pick up video, pick up albums )

Thats exactly what I did....We choose DJ and PHotographer and Flowers because they were all close to the hall and to my house

When I first started getting all these calls and info sheets from vendors I through away anything that was far away...
I figured that we'd look around us first, and then if they didnt work out venutre out of the area...
so far all the vendors we have choosen have necessarily been close...but been in suffolk county at least...its all working out!

Not really, but a major factor in choosing vendors for me is reputation.

Posted by Soon2bMsZ ...since we were getting married in the winter we had to take a snow storm into consideration.
One of the Temples we visited told us not to book any vendors that had to cross a bridge or travel too far to get to the Temple for the exact same reason. None of our vendors will be more than 10 miles away from the wedding location. That's one thing I didn't want to have to worry about.
As far as vendors being close to where I live, it didn't make a difference. I am not going to be seeing any of the vendors that many times before the wedding that I can't be inconvenienced to hop in my car and go. Once I am in my car it doesnt matter.

I did... all of my vendors for floral, photo/video and limo's are local. Within 15 minutes of my house. Wanted to limit the scheduling/travelling 'problems'. The only one who is not, is my makeup person, but she's so fantastic that I know I don't have to worry about her. Now if only I could find a dj... I'd be done.

i do b/c its a feb wedding in the morning so i dont want vendors to have to drive quite a distance in poor weather or cancel b/c of the commute/weather.
