Do you write a note as to why you can't make it? FH and I got invited to a wedding of an ex-co-worker of mine and I was totally shocked I was invited. I am totally going to send something nice off the registry for the wedding, but I just don't feel like we have to go to the wedding. I have only hung out with this girl about 4 times outside of work, and it was always with other work people. We never call each other or even email. So basically I have to make up an excuse, and I have a good one, just wondring if I shoudl write it on the back of the RSVP....
help!!

Re: When responding 'NO' to an rsvp do you...
Just write no and say that you regrettfully decline, but wish them every happiness and joy on their wedding day. You don't have to write an excuse.

love or sincerely,
so and so.

Re: When responding 'NO' to an rsvp do you...
say that you and your FH had already planned on going out of state to visit either his or your relatives for the weekend... i would just jot it down on the back and say so sorry you can't make it-- congrats and good luck, enjoy it! things like that etc etc and you could even write thank you so much for thinking of your FH and yourself to invite you.... and that's it
ETA... let me be more specific! you don't HAVE to write why but you can if you want to--
Dear so and so...
Thank you so much for inviting us to share in your very special day-- unfortunately we will be out of town that weekend visiting (whoever) but we do send our warmest regards to you and your future husband!! Enjoy every moment of your big day and we wish you all the luck in the world on a very happy life together. (then send the present along with it) and that's it. Congrats-- your name!

I don't write an 'excuse' or 'reason' why we can't attend, I usually just put something like:
'Thanks for thinking of us' or 'Sorry we're unable to attend'

Most to the NO's we got didn't have an explaination. We only got two with an explanation....I don't think you need to make anything up. If you want you can just wish them well.

Nah...usually if I'm not going, I'm not that close to the person and don't feel the need.

Re: When responding 'NO' to an rsvp do you...
For some reason I take it personally when I get a response that is just a NO...I think it is nice when someone says sorry but have a great time or congrats..no excuse needed but well wishes are nice

I would reply no. And then include a note with the gift when you send it, expressing your regrets.

I agree, you do not need toprovide a reason on the response card.
