Okay, so I have over a year before I get married and I know that it will probably fly by but... when should I announce my bridal party? This summer? The fall? Two of the girls know they will be in because we have been friends since we were 5 and have always told each other that we would be in each other's bridal parties (I was in the party for one of them in SU99). The third person doesn't know it. Should FH and I get them all together under other pretenses and tell them together? Take them to lunch separtely? Have the guys go one way and the girls another?
Thanks

Re: When should I announce my bridal party?
I asked my girls individually - my sister, my closest friend of 20 years, a close friend of 10 years and my cousin. The first and the last are out of state so I called my cousin and asked her to do us the honor...and I sent my sister a MOH card - even though she knew she'd be standing with us. One friend I asked over dinner...the other during lunch. I asked them all within a month of being engaged - shoot me, I was excited! ;)
My FI, on the other hand, hasn't asked anyone yet and has no idea what he's going to do.

I think do whatever you are the most comfortable with. If you are a bit nervous about it you can tell them individually or privately. This could take a lot of the stress off you. I am a bit nervous about this issue myself so it may be what I am going to do. I am going to feel so much better when I take care of that part of the wedding!

Re: When should I announce my bridal party?
I think I need to sit down with FH and decide who we want. I also have the dilemma of wanting to include my brother but not my SIL. I was in their wedding in Nov, but they have been fighting since they returned from their honeymoon (2 weeks after the wedding) and I unsure of the future of their marriage. Should I ask bro without SIL or ask bro to do a reading and have bro and SIL present the gifts (bread and wine) in church?

Re: When should I announce my bridal party?
I told my girls right away, I had them picked out before I was engaged. As for FH, He hasn't really asked them all yet. We asked my brother, cousin and his son so far. we have two more people to ask.

Re: When should I announce my bridal party?
I just called mine up (they are all out of town) and said hey, what kind of dress do you want to wear? They pretty much knew they'd be in my wedding.

Re: When should I announce my bridal party?
Julie, I'd also say it's fine to have brother and not fsil. We're having married people, some family, on one side and not having their spouse in the bp. It's fine. We're just making sure the BP can sit with their guests and not have their guests at another table.

I was told by everyone I know that got married to wait until the last possible second to pick (or announce)
