Hello ladies Okay I have a big problem with my dress I know what dress I want but everyone is telling me that is to early to buy the dress, but if i keep waiting the dress will be more expensive than last year. By the way my wedding is on June 17 2011.
What should I do

buy it now... the worst that could happen is that a year from now you decide it isn't for you, then you sell it.
I WISH I would have found a dress earlier. I just got mine a few weeks ago... and I was stressing out that I couldn't find one.
don't listen to other people, order it, and slowly pay it off...

Why would the price of the dress go up?
If anything, I think it would go down since it will then be last season's style. But, if you're that confident, buy it now. Just don't look at anymore dresses for the next 15 months! Honestly though, I'd just wait until you hit the year mark to purchase.

Some designers take long periods of time to order so if you see a dress you like then go for it! They will tell you some designers take up to 10 months. They told me that and my dress came in 4 months. The only thing is make sure wherever you purchase your dress they will store it for you if it comes in early. I heard some place charge a fee to store. You don't want your beautiful dress to be hanging in your closet with dust accumulating on it. Can you wait till Summer to get it?

i'm of the mindset that you should wait as long as possible to buy the dress. That way if you lose weight, you won't have to get it taken in too much ... and if you fall in love with another dress, you won't be SOL since you've already bought this one.
if it's not in danger of being discontinued or whatnot, then i think you should wait a few more months, at least.

ita....if anything its going to go down since its not a new dress.
i also think you should wait until the year mark. you are going to see thousands of dresses between now and then, and you don't want to start second guessing yourself.

honestly, it really depends on the person. i mean, i bought a dress a year and a half before the wedding. 6 months later i had some serious doubts. i started looking for a new dress, even had a deposit down on a new one but waited till the latest possible point to order. i continued to look and ended up switching my deposit to my dream dress. personally i feel it is best to order 8-12 months before the wedding, but every person is different. also, i don't get why the dress would be more expensive if you waited. generally dresses decrease in price the longer they are out.

I agree 100%.....I purchased my dress and i know i wont get dress envy! It takes so much out of you to keep trying on gowns...The confusion is to much for me...when u find the right one you will know it!
Last year my dress was $1100...So yes the price can increase because i got it for $1375--this year! Buy your dress and enjoy!

the sooner the better, most dress shops wont actually order it until it is closer to the wedding depending on how long that designer needs that way it doesnt come in too early!. but order it, and mark that off your list!

You should buy it!! Some dress take a long time to come in. As for the price going up it is possible it happen with my BM dresses.

i think it's a personal preference. i was told that i should wait till it's closer to the date since styles are constantly changing and you dont want to wear something that is dated..
but if you love something, i say just go for it. but if you are the type to second guess yourself, then maybe it's worth it to wait a little..

My advice is to wait on the dress BUT make sure you know the exact style name or number and keep following up with the salon, AND find out what other salons sell it. You should also ask if the dress is only out in stores for a season or will it be made permanent and not be discontinued.
IMO it's just way too early to order your dress. I know some girls say 'just do it', but truly, there are new styles coming out twice a year (spring and fall).
Food for thought-I bought my ORIGINAL dress a little over a year before my wedding date. I completely changed my mind and did a RE-SELECT 10 weeks later. Thankfully they were able to change the order without too much drama.
BUT THEN 2 months later (in February) all these new styles came out and I was seriously questioning my dress.
SO bottom line is-keep all of your options open. You have SO MUCH time to go. If you love the dress now, you'll know if it's the right one if you can't stop thinking of it for months and months. I would say order by September/October. Don't cut the dress trying on process short because it's so much fun!!
And BTW, if they raise the price on the dress you have plenty of negotiating power. Because you were already originally quoted a price.

i had the same situation. if you are SURE this is the dress you want and you are done dress shopping AND your salon will store it for free when it comes in, then order it! thats what my place told me to do and im very thankful. you are running the chance of the dress being discontinued if you wait... hth and good luck!

people are telling you its too early...that means they think you are likely to change your mind and not like it! nothing bad will happen if you buy your dress now!! If your sure its the one go with your gut!!

My wedding isn't until September 1, 2011 and I have found my dream gown already. Do keep in mind though that i have been looking at gowns for the past year since becoming engaged. I searched high and low for a gown that would catch my eye online. For me everything looked the same. I found my dream onine and researched the bridal store that would have a sample of it. I found it in Manahattan and I loved it!!!! It was everything that I was searching for.
My piece of advice is to go with how YOU feel about the gown and in it. And also ask yourself if you have seen any gowns after that dress that compares to the one that you like. Hopes this helps!!

Yup I ordered mine a year ago last week and it still didn't come in but at least my order was in incase it got discontinued..so I especially say order it now if you know it's 'the one'
