I got my dress from ebay, so I don't have a bridal shop telling me what to do. I tried on the dress again on Wednesday and it will definitely need alterations. I still need to lose a little bit of weight before it fits right (since I bought it off ebay it ended up being a tiny bit too small but it's gotten better!). Anyway, my wedding is in about 3 and a half months. When should I go for my first fitting?
go 6-8 weeks before. Thats when bridal shops start calling you in for your fittings. You want it as close to your wedding as you can get since your weight can change and even a few pounds can make a difference with how your dress fits. I started my fittings about 6-7 weeks before the wedding. Also leave your last fitting for as close to the wedding as you can. I did mine 2 weeks before and wish i did it even closer. I had so much running around to do the last 2 weeks that i lost a few pounds from the time of my last fitting. The dress was a little loose. Not too bad but not as fitted as it was during my last fitting. I knew i wasnt supposed to lose weight after that but i wasnt even trying.
