When should we register??

FH and I are getting married Feb 16, 2007. We have not registered yet because we did not have an engagement party
When do you think it would be good to register, I have no idea when my shower is going to be so I am going into this blind.

Someone let me know....THANKS

we registered about 1 week after we got engaged. we didnt have an eparty, but people wanted to get us egifts.

so, we registered 10 months b4 the wedding.

I totally think you can start registering now...you've got less than a year till the wedding and this way you can add or take off things in the meantime! We did it a couple of weeks after we got engaged b/c people were asking and we are having an eparty but even though you didn't I say go for it and have a ball!!!

I think you could register now.

We plan on registering about 1 year before the wedding.

Re: When should we register??

I think you can get started! I got engaged in November and people started asking us right away where we were registered because they wanted to buy us gifts (we didn't have a party either). So we got started right away on all the basic needs (appliances, gadgets, etc). We have held off on bedding, towels, etc. because a lot of this stuff is seasonal and we are trying to avoid stuff being discontinued.

HTH...happy registering!!!!

I reg. in March getting married on 8-20-06! Just save your bedding for last. but why not start now it does take a while to decide what you like

I would start now and just do a little at a time. Besides, we changed our mind about many items because we kept seeing other things in other stores. It's hard but lots of fun.

You can do it whenever you want, but don't put bedding or any linens on it, because more likely it will be discontinued before your shower. (they update stock every few months to keep up with the seasons)

I agree. We registered for everything except bedding shortly after becoming engaged. We registered early b/c a lot of people wanted to buy us engagement gifts.

I agree! It takes awhile to build the entire registry so it wouldn't hurt to get started. I got engaged last August and started registering a week later (FH and I planned on living together before the wedding and my 30th b-day was the following week so I wanted housewares).

Just as someone posted above, do linens last (approx 6 mos before the shower as per Fortunoff).

Re: When should we register??

We registered just after being engaged (18 months before wedding) because my DH loves his kitchen stuff. He's a great cook! I had never heard of an engagement party, so it took us 9 months to have one. But by that time people were buying us stuff off the registry for Christmas and birthdays. My brother said it was the easiest shopping list for me.
