Ok so this may sound like a dumb question, but i have no clue when it comes to this stuff...
I recently got engaged and my wedding will most likely take place in March 2010...
When would be the appropriate time to host an engagement party?
Some people i have asked said it can wait till next year since i won't be married for a while, but then i'm reading on different wedding websites that it should be no longer than two-four months after the engagment...
What do you think? Thanks!

I would do it in 2009 this way it gives you time to prepare and have the party you really want

We were engaged May 2007, had our eparty September 2007 and we're getting married September 2008!

we got engaged sept 2007 and had the eparty novemeber 2007. We figured the wedding would probably be in march 2010 too so why not celebrate sooner to get it all rolling.

we got engaged the end of october 07 and wanted a summer backyard e-party so we needed to wait for warmer weather. our e-party is going to be june 21st so thats almost 9 months after we got engaged. i think it comes down to what type of party youre looking to have, when your big day is going to be, and how much space is between your wedding day and the e-party. if you want a backyard e-party i would have it this summer.. if weather isnt an issue, then maybe the fall of 08. i would definitly have it before march of 09 tho since youre planning a march of 2010 wedding.

We got engaged Dec. 07...Getting Married Jan 2010...Our e-party is this May 08

We had ours about a year and a half before the wedding. We were engaged on Dec. 24 2006, engagement party was March 30, 2007 and wedding will be Sept. 13, 2008.

There's no right or wrong time to have an engagement party. You should just plan it for when its convenient for you and your guests. We got engaged in October 07 and we're having our engagement party in July 08. We'll be married Sept 09.

I think you should do it when it is most convenient for you and the people who may help you plan it. My suggestion would be to do it about a year before you wedding so you could hand out Save-the-Dates! I got engaged in Dec 2007, our Eparty is in May 2008, and we are getting married June 2009.

We were engaged 11/22/06 and our engagement party was 4/14/07 and we are getting married 6/28/08

IMO, I think you should have an engagement party within 6 months after getting engaged. After all, the party is to celebrate your engagement ,which just happened! Congrats!

I got engaged in October 2007. It is a short engagement. FH and I have been together for over 10 years!!! So it was done 3 weeks after we got engaged...So my side and his side could really get to know one another!!!!
