when should you register?

I am getting married in November... should I register soon or can I hold off... how many places should you register at?

Re: when should you register?

i registered early... so some people bought us gifts from there instead of guessing...

however they do say not to register too early because some stuff becomes discontinued...

Re: when should you register?

We registered in September. We registerd at Macy's, Fortuniff, and Willams-Sonoma. We did it because we rarely have time to do anything together so, when we had the chance we did. Also people wanted to buy us gifts and they ddin't know what to get us. I think you should do it soon because you never know when your shower is JMO

i didnt have an eparty either(although i really wanted one ) ....but still we got alot of engagement gifts from people although it was delayed....

being 7months away it wouldnt hurt to register now, and you can then go back and update little things closer to the date...

I registered a couple of weeks ago. Personally I feel its too early but my sister (MOH) was kinda pushing me into it.

I didn't register yet either. We were thinking maybe this weekend. Can't decide where...Maybe Macy's and Fortunoff's....It seems everyone has had some bad experiences registering though!

I registered right away, but I think as long as it's before your shower, which is usually 1-2 months before, you should be fine

Re: when should you register?

i got engaged at the end of July and registered at the beginning of August because people were asking to buy me engagement gifts.... we got so much from our registry

i didn't register for bedding
i registered things that would not get discontinued like China and everyday plates etc...
(the pattern is new and keeps coming out with more things so it won't go out--keeping my fingers crossed) besidees we received almost all of it

We still haven't registered since our wedding isn't until June '05 even though we've been engaged since last July. We'll probably register before Christmas.

I think FH and I are going to Bed, Bath, & Beyond and start to register there.... that store is awesome...they have great stuff!!
Is it ok to register at only one store?

Re: when should you register?

sure if they have everything you need...
somewhere like fortunoff has everything!!!!!!

i am registered at fortunoff but will probably register at bed bath and beyond to make it convenient for people

besides you can add and remove as you please and usually it can be done on the computer... we all know everyone on here has a computer

Re: when should you register?

I think now's a good time to register. The closer you get to the wedding the less free time you will have.

You can register at as many or as few places as you like.

I think it's close enough to the wedding that you don't really need to worry about items discontinuing. When we registered at Fortunoffs they told us the bedding & linens were the categories that may discontinue lines.

Re: when should you register?

We registered a while ago and we aren't getting married until next May 2005.

We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Fortunoff. We registered for everything but bedroom stuff and bathroom stuff. People wanted to buy us things off the registry as engagement gifts even though we didn't have a e-party. I think its a good idea to do now.

Re: when should you register?

I've seen people register in as little as one or as many as 4 stores it depends on what kind of stuff you need and who has it.

We've got most of our stuff and fortunoff and just a handful of stuff at BBB.

I registered WAY early, cause everyone was telling us to, and also because FH and I don't see each other that often, and it was a fun thing to do together. I'm also a big advocate for it b/c that way you don't get people trying to give you engagement gifts or whatever that you really don't want. Believe it or not, I already got some stuff form my registry! Some people want to give gifts right away, so they don't forget! I didn't register for bedding or towels. I'm going to wait to see what's around closer to the wedding, but if I fall in love with anything, I'll probably just buy it while it's there!

If I were you, I'd register when I was ready, but no later than July/August. You never know when your shower will be!
