Re: When SHOULD you start looking
I ordered my dress in auguest of 04 and the salon just told me it won't be in till aug of 05 thank god i have until nov 05--I don't think it is too early I think a year is a good time because it can take from 6-8 months to get your dress in. It can always be sooner but it might take awhile.

Re: When SHOULD you start looking
When ever you want! But some salons look at you like you have 2 heads if you come in before you have 12 months or less. You could wait til April, by then the new dresses of the season should all be in.
I ordered my dress November 2003 and it came in March 2004, my wedding was November of 2004. So my dress took about 5 months to come in.

Re: When SHOULD you start looking
i started on feb 26. it just depends on how ready you are. i'm doing it now cause as i wrote in my board, i'm a panic person if i wait and i'm so anxious so i'm doing it now. i wouldn't go to far past the summer if you're not ready now.

Re: When SHOULD you start looking
I bought my in February. I was just going to look but I found the one I wanted, so I ordered it. The ladies at the salon didn't think it was strange (but I did tell them a different wedding date - March 25 I think).

I am getting married around the same time as you- except this year... I started looking in July- and it was plenty of time.

Re: When SHOULD you start looking
I'm getting married July of this year, and I ordered my dress in early February. It should arrive in mid-May. You should have more than enough time, even if you started looking a couple months from now. Some designers do take longer, so I was a little more limited in my choices, but there were still ample choices.
The bridal pubs scared me at first--I thought there was no way I could put a wedding together in 7 months (started planning in January), but so far, everything has been falling into place easily. Don't let that scare you--you have time.

My wedding's in Aug '05 and I just started looking 3 weeks ago..finally ordered my dress this past weekend.
You definitely have time but don't wait too long like I did...Family members were starting to get nervous for me The dress I decided on happen to be the 2nd dress I tried on. Good luck!

Re: When SHOULD you start looking
About 9 - 12 mos ahead is good. Give yourself more time if you know you are picky! It took me several months... I started actually trying on gowns in November for my October wedding.

Re: When SHOULD you start looking
Start looking whenever you're ready, but when the time comes to order make sure you really want it...I don't know how many times brides have bought dresses...and keep looking and find another one they have to have!!! Then they usually lose $$ trying to sell it.
