This guy would NOT get off my azz today, and eh was driving like a lunatic,..and he was like an inch off my bumper, and the road had just gone to one lane. I tried slowing down so he woudlnt be so close to me, but he stayed close..so I slowed to a CRAWL...and I let him hink all he wanted..THEn when the road openend up to 2 lanes, and he could have passed me , I took off like a bat out of hell.. I am so evil, but he deserved it!

Yes. I drive a land yacht so it would be to the tailgater's disadvantage to hit me. Plus said land yacht is 11 years old and has 150,000 miles on it. I'd sort of like for it to go out with a bang, no pun intended.

I seems like there are a TON of tailgaters on Long Island...almost everywhere I go!! I go the speed limit or up to 5 over on backroads and I still manage to get someone up my a$$!! It drives me the most nuts when I'm actually speeding a little and they still tailgate me!

This isn't entirely correct. Because of No Fault the only time it is completely not your fault is if you are at a complete stop at a red light or parked.
If you are hit from the rear, the higher percentage of fault goes to the person that hit you. Your insurance can still go up.

I always do! And if there is room in the next lane, I make them switch...and then I speed up to their speed when they try to pass me Or if it's a one-lane road...i go EXACTLY the speed limit! I love passive-aggressive behaviour!

The best is when someone tailgates you on the parkway...I put my windshield-wipers on and give them a shower. They usually stop doing it after I pull that move.

I'm going to copy and paste this from another thread because I really dont want to type it again!!!
It's a good thing you didn't get out of the car--I was at a red light and it turned green and another car came zooming around (he went through the red light on the other side) so I stopped, and this psycho behind me starts screaming and yelling!! I made the turn and he started tailgating me and then he'd back off, and then he'd floor it, almost hitting me... I was terrified. we then get to a red light on a one way street wtih a LOOOOONG line of cars. He drove onto the shoulder, INCHES away from my car, rolled down the windows and started punching his fist at me and my passenger side window, SCREAMING that he was going to kill me!!!
I just kept telling myself, don't look, don't look at him, please turn green light, please turn green!!!
The light changed and I hoped that he'd go ahead of me but he waited and the people behind me honked. You would have thought they'd do something seeing how crazy he was!
I drove a few blocks with him tailgating me, freaking out, and he still followed me. I got on to the LIE thinking, OK, he'll leave me alone... but he kept doing it! So I changed lanes. He changed lanes. I slowed down, and he got closer and closer! So I had to go faster and faster to get away from him!!!
My heart was pounding SO fast and I was SHAKING! I then realized I had my cell phone. Just then it rang and me in my panic thought it was the psycho!! But it was my SO, who wanted me to drive to his house so he could 'take care of the psycho' I refused because I didn't want him to know where I lived.
He told me to call the police... then i dropped the phone.. i yelled to him that i was going to drive to the police station.. I got on the LIE at exit 57, and the only police station i knew was 68.. he followed me, swerving, screaming, trying to run me off the road, at 90+mph sometimes, rush hour, he finally backed off at exit 66, I can still remember his face and his wild eyes and his junky little white car. I only wish I could have gotten his plate number, but he was always too close to me to see it in the mirror!!!
SO just curse at people when they drive like azzholes... to yourself... you never know when you'll get a psycho!! I never ever make any gestures or anything, I just curse to myself and think of something an old friend used to say, 'where did you get your license, Kmart?'

Yup and when I drive down a street that is wide enough for two cars, I ride RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE so they cannot pass me.

Its not to piss them off... It just a matter of respect... If I happen to piss him off at the same time, then its a bonus.
i dont need a tailgater when i need to stop short for any reason. there is no reason to tailgate because your still right behind me

Yes, but not always. Sometimes it's just not worth the accident and I move. I have learned not to tell other drivers they are 'number one'. Too many times they take it as an insult to their ego and then get too aggressive (uh, GET OVER IT!!!) Tailgating is SO dangerous! If you do 80 instead of 70 does it really save you that much time??? BTW: thinking about flinging my delicate human mortal body at 80 mph is actually a very scary thought.
ETA: The worst thing that people do to tick me off is 1) go accross double yellow lines (in oncoming traffic) to pass, and 2) go on the curb to pass while I am waiting to turn into my driveway

Not always, NO. It depends on how aggravated the driver seems, what the road conditions are like, the type of car, what he's been doing to other drivers up to that point etc... I've been a victim of an accident caused by road rage where I was rear ended and IT IS NOT COOL to play those games on the road!
Alot of times I will just get out of their way because you never know what they are going to do once they are all pissed off and finally whip around you -- then who gets hurt next?
I couldn't get out of his way, it was a one lane road..and speeding up would have been more dangerous. God forbid I need to make a short stop, it's better if I'm going 25 than 50.
I defintiely pissed him off though..as soon as it made it to 2 lanes, I FLEW
