what type of room you get? The prices are so expensive. Its $400-$500 more just for a window in your room. What do you think?

I have been on three cruises. when booking what ever price you book at, keep calling and checking the price. if it is lower then what you booked you will get the lower price. There might be upgrades available too and not cost much. I have always had a room with a window. Once with a balcomy. the balcony was especially at night. If you are looking at the prices in the ook it is expensive, check online and call the cruise lines. you can get some great deals if you look for them.

I think it all depends on how much time you thing you'll be spending in your room. I have been on numerous cruises and stayed in all types of rooms. Of course if you can afford it the balcony rooms are just awesome. But I have also stayed in an inside cabin and it didn't bother me at all....I was only in the room to sleep and to get ready.
If its your belated honeymoon though I might splurge on getting a balcony. There is nothing better than eating breakfast on the balcony watching the boat pulling into port.

My friend went once on a Cruise and her room had no window, she said she will never do that again. According to her since you can't see when the sun comes out you would over sleep missing most of the day and it just doesn't feel right. The last cruise she went on had a window and she loved it.

I went on a cruise last year and we had no window. We visited friends in their cabin and they did have a window. I was so glad that we opted for no window. To me it was NOT worth an extra several hundred dollars for a small window in the same size room. If I was getting a balcony that might be different. But if the only difference is a small window, I would save the money and buy some more fruity drinks by the pool

We went on a party cruise and the cabin had no windows. Mind you the cabin was in the worst deck but that is another story! I didn't like it at all. Once the lights were out it was pitch black. When we woke-up, we couldn't tell what time it was or whether the weather was nice or not. For our HM we are getting a cabin with a balcony. Although people have told me you don't spend much time in your cabin, for us its worth it. And for the price we couldn't refuse.

I know I’m in the minority here but I’ve been on three cruises, had it both ways, and I say forget the window if you’re finding it that much of a $ difference. Like Becky said, better spent on fruity drinks.

Re: When taking a cruise,do you think it matters....
i think it's all personal preference. my first cruise (my girlfriend and I) didn't have a window - i didn't really miss anything - b/c we were out till ALL hours and would sleep by the pool anyway. FI, however, is not a hard-core partyer and is just as content sitting reading a book, so for the HM we are getting a balcony, as I suspect we will be spending more time in the room
i'm not sure what cruise line you're taking - but carnival has different prices for portholes vs. regular windows. i thought the portholes were more than sufficient for sunlight and weren't that much more than an inside room. and definitely keep checking the prices, if prices go down you can get an upgrade for the same price.
good luck!!!!!!

Scratch that..I thought you were talking about a balcony. The window doesnt make that much of a difference, definitely not $400 worth. If you wait until you check in, you might be able to upgrade to a balcony room for that money.

Went on 2 cruises and had a port hole and the second one had a balcony, go for the balcony or window it is so nice to wake up in the am and see your surroundings or watch the sun come up etc.

What ship are you talking about? Some have better windows then others that could be worth the difference. I'm also of the mindset that I like the room to have sunlight when I'm waking up... To be in a pitch black room when I wake up makes me feel tired for hours!
In terms of picking the room, if you have a great travel agent (I can recommend one if you need it) you should be able to get any price reductions that become available even after booking.
