When they say your appendix is on your lower right side....

Do they mean to MY RIGHT? OR if someone was facing me, to their Right?

Tryig to understand..a friend of mine had some mild pain....but not sure where the heck the appendix is...

on the person's self.....my father had his taken out as an emergency.....he thought it was really bad gas pains

probably doesn't matter much considering that some people (including two i actually know of) had it on the 'wrong' side...

but generally it's on the right side of the body.

On the right side ... if you are having pains on the lower right side it could be a number of things from what I understand.

If it's on the lower left (just above pubic hair line), it is most likely your colon - irritible bowel, spastic colon.

If it's on your pubic line or lower it's most likely an ovary - maybe a cyst or ovulation.

That's what I was told at least.

You are correct. I had my appendix removed. I had really annoying pain on the upper right side for almost a full day. It didn't move to the lower left until about two hours before I was rushed to the hospital to have it removed.

I had my appendix out...
the pain i felt was everywhere. I was throwing up for over 24 hours! I went to the ER, the did blood work, they said i was fine...
NOPE....went back the next day and had emergency surgery! My appendix burst in the surgeon's hand after he took it out!

Its on your right. But I agree the pain can be anywhere. I had pain up near my chest, from right to left. Went into the hospital, they did tests, said everything was fine, but I was still in soooo much pain. My doctor decided to do exploratory surgey and he took out my appendix as a precaution. Well, my appendix looked fine, but when they sent it off to pathology to test it, turned out it was rotten, as they called it!!

Pain on the side near the abdomen or anywhere for that matter could also be gallstones. I had that too. I was in severe pain, felt like really really really bad gas (sorry) I was cringed up in a ball on my bathroom floor. My mom called an ambulance and they took me to the hospital, ran tests and I needed emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder.

There is a lot that could be causing your friend pain. Definitely tell her to go to the doctor. If its the appendix, it can be fatal if not treated and if it is the gall bladder, it may also be fatal if it gets too infected(my uncle was just in the hospital to get his removed, and he almost died. He ignored the pain and went on his way for two months until finally being rushed into the hospital. Doctors said if he waited another week it would have burst and he'd be dead).

Definitely tell her to check it out, not matter how little or major the pain!!!
