When to give the parent gifts???

So I know it is customary to give thank you gifts to the parents of the bride and groom but my question is when and what? After the wedding or the day before? How much money should I spend? Ahhh just when I thought I was done planning

Re: When to give the parent gifts???

We gave it to both our parent's the Friday b4 the wedding. We all checked in to the hotel Friday and the wedding was Sat so when we were all together in one of our rooms drinking wine and laughing my husband (FH at the time) decided that was the perfect time. We spent about $250 for each of the parents. A together gift, not seperate for mom and dad, etc.

I am going to give them their presents at the Rehersal Dinner. I just don't know what to give them. I have heard other brides gave picture frames with a note that says to put a picture of their wedding in it when they get them. Some are giving personalized hankies.... just a few ideas.

I'm giving my parents their gifts the morning of my wedding... they are very personal gifts and are for the day of, so I thought it would be more meaningful if I gave it to them then.

Is this really a tradition? I haven't ever heard of it and neither has FH... I know my parents don't expect one (they are from the 'old country' and that is not part of their customs)-- but will his?

We gave out all of our gifts (parents, grandparents, bridal party, readers) at the RD.

I think we are giving them parents photo albums as gifts so that will obviously be after the wedding.
