When to go for first fitting???

I called the bridal shop where I bought my dress today and amazingly, when they looked up my account, they said my dress was in!! I'm very excited my dress is in and assume they would've called me to tell me it came in. My question is, my wedding is the first weekend in August...when should I go for my first fitting? The bridal shop said 6 - 8 weeks before the wedding but I feel like I should go sooner JUST in case anything is wrong with it (godforbid) or the size is wrong. I'm just a little concerned after reading about some horror stories. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

When to go for first fitting???

I had an August wedding and I tried my dress on when it arrived in Jan. I asked the shop to let me have a quick appt. to be sure it was the right dress, right size, and it fit the way I expected before alterations. I suggest doing this now and then getting your first fitting in June.

When to go for first fitting???

My wedding is Aug 25th and my first fitting is May 3rd. I will have two more fittings after that. I think that is enough time. You should make an appointment as soon as possible never mind what they say. I didn't wait for them to call me , I called them.

When to go for first fitting???

Thanks for the input! I will call the bridal shop this week and hopefully schedule an appointment over the next 2 weeks. They really seemed to be pushing the appointment to be closer to the wedding (I don't understand why) but I'm going to explain to them that I'd like to come in and try it on because my mom hasn't seen it on me yet. Thanks again

Help....6 weeks to go:Christine

My wedding is also in six weeks and I am going for my first fitting the first week in May. I think it depends on how much of the dress has to be altered. I got lucky and only need minor tucks but if you plan to get a lot of alterations, I would start as soon as possible. I also wanted to lose some weight too but my bridal shop said once you start alterations you have to maintain the weight you are.
