Just wondering when is it a good time to have our engagement party? My fiance and I got engaged back in October, and our wedding is 04.22.11 ... We we're thinking of having it April 2010, and sending out the save the dates along with a little enclosure card with the party details..
Any advice ladies??

I got engaged 10/19/09 our wedding is a week before yours 4/15/11, we are having our engagement party In march. We wanted april originally but one of my cousins/bm is due in May and lives in MD so I didnt want her traveling last minute. I am doing the same thing with the save the dates. One of my BM brought up that. Save on postage!!! good idea!

aww thats so nice! I originally wanted March too, but I hoping to have an outdoor-type event since we'll be having over 100 people coming.

I would do it whenever. But I def like the idea of at least a year before.
We had mine a month after I got engaged.
after all the cost people will have to spend.. esp the ppl in the wedding party - it's good to spread things out.
even ppl not in the wedding party - engagement party, shower, then wedding. it adds up so I would do it far enough away from the wedding where people won't feel overwhelmed but a date that you want.

I think that's a GREAT idea!!! We were engaged 1-6-09 and we had our engagement party the fourth of July and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! I think having yours in April is a GREAT idea and I would go for it...

we got engaged in June and had out engagement party in October. I thought 4 months was pushing it for an engagement party.. guess not

I think that's a perfect idea! We're trying to plan one for a year before too..it kind of is like a preview to the wedding hehe

I'm the first out of all my close girlfriends to get engaged and plan a wedding, so I don't really have anyone to turn to. I love this site!
