When to look for Pediatrician?

After reading Claud's post, I just realized that I have to start thinking about a Ped. I'm 4 1/2 months away from my due date. Is it too early? I'm also moving in April, so I was going to wait until then.

Re: When to look for Pediatrician?

I agree, the sooner the better. I met with 2 peds 2 weeks before I had the baby! Duh!! I didn't like my SIL's pediatrician who happens to be in Bayside. But I really lucked out, I was going to use them until I could find someone else but you also have to have a pediatrician come to the hospital when the baby is born. You can use any ped for that if you want so I just chose one close to the hospital from my plan and they were terrific!!!! (Right, Claud ) I got a great feeling right away and they have been terrific since. They are in Mineola. I live in Queens too and it's Exit 27 off the GCP, very easy. CPEC Pediatrics. If you want their #, let me know. It is 4 woman doctors in the practice and I think they are all mothers, it helps.

Sadly I will have to change soon b/c I am dropping my insurance soon and picking up DH's which they don't accept. I'm sort of in denial but I have to start looking for someone new. I wish it was Nov so we could change insurance in his plan so I could use them.

Good luck! Let me know if you want the #, I have to look it up.

Thanks Elizabeth, I will definitely take the # from you. Mineola's not too bad, my father lives in NHP and we're always out around there.

Nina - I use the same pediatrician group for Paul that Elizabeth uses for Luke - we just discovered this last week! LOL!
They are wonderful doctors, and I trust them. My only concern now is that they are going to be very far away from us when we move to St. James!

Nina, My sister has a great pediatrician. He's in Forest Hills. Dr. Eden. He has also written several books in the field. I will ask my sister was book(s) and what his information is. Let me know if youre interested. Her kids adore him and he is fabulous with kids.

Re: When to look for Pediatrician?

Claud, If you decide to change pediatricians after living out here, the practice I go to is excellent. Mid-suffolk pediatrics. I was highly recommended to them by several people. Whoever I asked whether it was friends, family, friends of a friend, or someone I struck up a conversation with at the nail salon (LOL!) Mid-suffolk is highly recommended out here.
heres their website :
Mid Suffolk Pediatrics

For anyone living in suffolk, they have offices in Mount Sinai, Hauppauge, and Babylon. They have great doctors, and all their rooms are painted in a Disney themes (talk about great murals !!)

I called my ped. (when I was younger) when I was 7 1/2 months and since I was a patient he took Emma without any problems.
