When to order favors, and how many????

Ok, so its crunch time. with 3 and half months left, now its the little stuff I need to worry about. As some of you know, I'm doing measuring tape and chocolates in a box for my wedding, 1 per person. When should I order them being I don't have a final headcount. We invited 35 people from Ireland/England who aren't sure are going to come. Its a 50% chance, as well as my some of my mothers family. Our headcount right now is 300. But, we all feel it will probably be around 225-240. How many favors should I order, When should I order them???

Regular chocolates (not truffles and such) will keep for 3 months if you store them in a cool and dry place. So you can certainly order them now if you want to get it out of the way.

You won't know you final count until a few weeks to a few days before so you can't wait until then to order them.

If the chocolates aren't expensive order 300 -- that way you know you'll be covered. Otherwise order 250 and hope for the best.

I took the conservative approach I gave away the extra chocolate after the wedding.
