when to order invitations...

how soon before the wedding did you all order invitations?

I'm not up to this point yet, but in my Martha Stewart mag. it says to order them 4-6 months before and they should be mailed out 2-4 months before the wedding. I don't know if that helps, but I figured I'd respond with something

I was also told by someone who does invites NOT to do it too early!!

I ordered them a month ago and the wedding is 9/03. 11 months in advance but they are being custom made.

If you know all of your info and the # of guests, I'd order them now so you can figure out how to address the envelopes (calligraphers need some time) and time to stuff and seal them.

I am getting married March 29th and ordered mine last week (about 4 1/2 months before).

I also ordered mine early. I ordered them a couple of months ago. The wedding is May 31st.

I ordered them last week and they are being shipped today.
(tomorrow will be 4 months) so I guess i will say
4 months

One of the invitation stores near where i live said to order them 5 to 7 months in advance...

I think about 4 to 6 months before the wedding. Don't forget to order extras. I can't tell you how many people our families 'forgot' to add to the finalized list. Thankfully we had enough extras. Also keep in mind that you may have some envelopes with mistakes that you need to do over and some you may have to re-send (people calling to say they never received).

I ordered them in october, saw the sample in november...the wedding is in April. Hope this helps.

I don't think there is any specific deadline, unless you are getting something that is going to take a lot of time and re-doing etc. Make sure you order them with enough time tho' in case there are any errors etc. Don't forget to order a couple extra envelopes, there are always mistakes and you will need them.
