Hey girls...I looked at invitations on invitationsbydawn.com and found ones that I loved that seemed reasonably priced. I considered making my own to try to save $ so I am still a little unsure. I got something in the mail (which I think I misplaced ) from my RH saying to send them a copy of the invitation when we get it. My wedding is about 14 months away. When does everyone order invites? TIA!

u should find out how long will it take for ur invites to print...i think u mail invites out like 3 months prior...but could be wrong

If you found ones you love and have your guest list in order I don't see why you couldn't order them now. Better leaving yourself with more time needed (just in case) then not enough time.

make sure you like the quality of the samples... b/c ones that i would have bought right away, were actually too flimsy for my taste
eta: but to answer your question, i think 6 months in advance is plenty of time

6-9 months before if you're ordering completed invitations because you need to see the sample and approve it, give time to mail, and get back rsvp's etc...I'm doing them my self so I have been buying the supplies little by little as I find good deals.

Thanks girls! I did order a sample and I liked what I got. They are not your typical wedding invitation. There is a picture of a couple on a canoe. I want them because we got engaged after a canoe ride. I think I might head to Michael's today though to look around. I heard they have inexpensive DIY invitation kits. I am REALLY trying to cut costs everywhere I can!

I say if you found what you like, go for it. Just order extras in case your head count changes, you just never know this far out.
Plus I think it will be nice, whatever things we can buy now and sort of spread out costs on things.

Give yourself enough time, in case you receive the samples and don't like the qualit y or how they look.

I ordered some samples and alot of them looked really nice online but then were cheesy when I got them in the mail! Make sure you see a sample first.

I agree. I really loved one online but the paper used was not even cardstock more like computer paper.
