I have 8 months left which I know is a lot of time, but I wanted to get them early to avoid doing them around the Christmas holidays.. Whats a good time to do this? I have no idea?

find out how long it will take. mine only took a few weeks, and i just got them in about 2 weeks ago. i would say 6 months before. (that will also give you time to address them, etc.)

We ordered ours July 2nd and our wedding date is Dec 3rd... gave our selves 5 months.... we are sending them out in late Sept and RSVP date is Nov 12th....

Was wondering the same thing myself. I found the exact invitations that I want. I was just debating on when to get them.

I ordered mine in April. If you know which one you want I say its not too early. You never know if it will be discontinued. Mine took about 2 weeks to come.
I am addressing them all myself (computer calligraphy) and will probably start that very soon. I am sending them out in the middle of Sep with middle of Oct rsvp date.

i wish i had allotted more time as i ran into quite a few snags in the end...
i started playing around with designs 6 months before and then kinda dropped the ball for 2 months. allow time for finding the right paper (test it in your printer) and figuring out how to best feed and cut it (nightmare for me)...
another piece of advice - pick the envelope size first (i wanted square), check out what is available paper-wise and design around that.
