I was wondering about how far before the wedding we should register. Thank you!
I registered April/2003...and my wedding is August/2004
Depends if you are having an E party and think that maybe people might want to buy you gifts off your registry from that. If not I say at least 6 mos before the wedding b/c you never know when your shower will be!
We're not getting married until Dec 2006 and we already partially registered. We thought it was a fun thing to do as a newly engaged couple, plus we both knew we were gettign engaged so of course I was looking at china patterns for months and already knew what i wanted. We've gotten a few checks and one gift that wasn't on the registry, but I ran into my aunt on line at the registry area of fortunoff the day we registered. She was there to look up our registry! We haven't gotten any gifts off it, but we thought ti was fun, we're having a small e-party soon, and I learned from my sister. She got a lot of gifts as soon as she got engaged which were totally not what she wanted and she can't return them, and then you get into the whole dilemma of people coming over and wondering where their gift is. I think registering early just obviates the situation. We registered right away for fomal and casual china, silver and flatware, and some bathroom accessories (less expensive) so it's stuff we know we'll still like in 3 years and it's in several price ranges. And everyone asks us 'Where did you register?'
I just registered the beginning of February for my July wedding.
I did the day after I got engaged.
