Re: when to register...

I am getting married July 3rd, a month before you. I registered last month. I don't know when my shower will be, I know it wont be for a while but whenever FH is available, I take advantage. He is always so busy.

So to answer ur question, I don't think it is too early if you register now.

Some say to register before the e-party, if you're having one, so people can get you things you'll actually like and use. I, personally, didn't, for the reason that we didn't necessarily want gifts, just wanted our families to meet. Turns out we got mostly 'envelopes' anyway. We registered shortly after e-party - in September - and someone ALREADY purchased something! So, it's never too early! Especially if you register with a larger dept. store - you know they'll always have what you want.

We started to register...we're certainly not finished!! It takes a really long time to get through all of the stuff...we just wanted to do it in stages (first we did kitchen, cookware and such) so we wouldn't have to be in the store for crazy long periods of time...but I'm hoping that we'll be finished within the next month or so.

It is really up to you. You have time so don't feel pressured. A lot of people told me to wait because some things you register for can be discontinued (My wedding is in Oct. 09) but my thought is that things can be discon. at any point even if I wait until 6 months before. My FH and I don't really want to get things off our registry for christmas from our families (which we think they would do) so we are going to do it after the holidays and that will be about 9-10 months from our wedding. Just make sure you monitor the things you put in just in case some of the items get discontinued in the meantime.

I registered in August before my e-party, but already my dishes were discontinued and I ended up going with my mom and buying them all (Christmas/Birthday gifts for the next two years.) So I would suggest starting a registry whenever you want, but wait until you get closer on things like dishes and linens that get discontinued.

I haven't regeistered yet either. We're trying to buy a house so we want to wait until after we know colors and things like that before we do so. Also, we've both been on our own for years so we don't need that much. Of course, new stuff is always good!

We do plan on registering after the new year though - hopefully we'll have a house by then!

you know what , we tried to register and we actually started but its very hard when you dont know where your going to live! its hard to think about what color is my bathroom going to be. we are going to try to go again within the month. i think you still have time ... i would say if not before christmas than right after! unless your family wants to start buying you stuff for christmas.
