When to Register

When to Register

Hey everyone...
Just got engaged about three weeks ago and the thoughts just don't stop in my head LOL...its fun though.

Just curious...when do people typically register? I have seen posts where people register right away after getting engaged. We are possibly having an engagement party in May and aren't getting married until Sept. 2010.

Congrats. You can register when ever you feel comfortable. We registered about a month later, my family kept asking because they wanted to buy an engagement gift. Happy registering!

u can register whenever you want...the only bad thing about doing it too early is that things tend to be discontinued and you dont want to risk getting half of your china and then have them stop making it

We registered about 2 months before the invitations were sent out.

We had an engagement party 6 months prior to the wedding (we got married 10 months after getting engaged) and were not registered for this obviously but it didn't seem to really matter for us. We didn't have a traditional engagement party - we rented a private wine cellar room and treated our friends to dinner.

I wouldn't register too early because as someone said above things get discontinued. And also, newer models may come out.

I registered in October and my wedding is in June, however, I may have registered early if I knew that 10% of whatever you charge on your macys card gets put on a gift card and sent to you about a month and a half after the wedding. If you shop there often, you might want to register earlier, even if its just for a couple of things. Also, 5% of what your guests buy off your registry goes on the gift card as well. Double check it when you register, but that is what they told us in October

I got engaged in December, we registered at the end of January, and we're not getting married until June 2010. But we had an e-party in February and a lot of people purchased registry items for that.

since you're having an engagement party in May- i would definetly go before you send out the invitations to that party- its so much fun to register- you can even do it right online - thats what we did with BB&B- i never even stepped foot in that store- so much better- looking thru everything on the couch with Fh and a glass of wine!

I got engaged in 2007 and just registered a few months ago. Do it whenever you have time and are in the mood- thats what we did.

we got engaged august 08, had our e-party in dec but didn't register before it.

we are getting married next april...i will probably register in the summer or fall.
